MEANING OF SOO SHIM
The name of Soo Shim has its origin in the country where it all started – the beuatiful land of South Korea. Soo is a word wich is best translated as water. And Shim is your mind or heart.
Soo Shim Taekwondo & Hapkido Club is always striving for simlpy being like water. In techinqe – calm and still but also raging. And in mind we want to reflect the aspect of self discipline. Last but not least Soo Shim also means cycle or orbit, that unites all people on earth.
HISTORY OF SOO SHIM HPC
It was the year of 1998 when a man named Peter Forsgren decided to start the club that we today call Soo Shim. During the ten first years the members, that in total were about 20-40 people, started out by training in gym halls of nearby schools.
Ten years later Niklas Andersson was the new commander in chief, and since then Soo Shim has had their own premises. In 2014 big renovations were made – and the club now holds three big training halls, a lobby, a café, a shared sauna and a modern gym.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN GOING TO THE GYM
Then we offer you free gym training during your stay – with olympic quality brands.
At Soo Shim we are a big fan of free weights. Here you will notice multiple squat wracks and bench pressing stations as well as bars, kettle bells and dumbells. Still, however, we have a wide range of machines for upper and lower body. And if you are keen for some extra cardio we offer cross trainers, treadmills, bicycles and rowing machines. Or why not challenge yourself with medicine balls, battle ropes, TRX bands, boxes, punching/kicking bags and more. The age limit it set to 16 – and we have about 600 external members doing only the gym.
There are three training halls, which in total covers about 400 m2 of the Soo Shim facility. TV screens are installed to keep score in taekwondo, and in the storages we have all sorts of equipment for the every day training. Of course emergency exits are available.
Whenever you have some spare time you are free to use our sauna! This was built with the renovations in 2014 and is much appreciated amongst our members. Furthermore it holds a display to individually choose the temperature – and is shared between both sexes.
The café and reception are both in one. This is the place to go if you have a question or need something to eat or drink. Staff available at certain hours. Amongst other things on the meny you find sugar free sodas, powerade, protein bars, smoothies and chicken curry baguettes.
